Insulating walls with Thermosheet is simple and efficient. To prevent heat loss by convection the vertical air layers should not be more than 20mm apart. A strong, well insulated construct on can be created using spacing battens 20mm thick and Thermosheet. The finishing touch is usually done with plasterboard. In order to reduce heat flow through the battens the second section of battens can be put at right angles to the first section and so on as you can see on the drawing. However it is better, cheaper and quicker to use 2 cm thick blocks of pressure proof insulation material like cork and/or extruded polystyrene like on the picture on the right. (cork block on the wall, extruded polystyrene between the battens)

Thermosheet gives high dampness protection (µd=180 m) and is nearly (99.99%) radon (gas) emission proof. It can be used as a vapour or moisture barrier. Thermosheet is also suitable to use in combination with other insulation material as a moisture barrier with extra high insulating value.

TONZON Thermosheets are available in large sizes, this way a whole wall can be covered with one piece of material. On the picture opposite you see a Thermosheet width 300 cm covering the complete wall .Window and door openings can be cut out on the spot. Thermosheets can also be used to insulate ceilings of garages and basements, or to insulate the upper side of stone or concrete floors.

Insulation value in walls

The extra insulation value of one or more fully enclosed vertical air layers each 20mm thick, with or without TONZON Thermosheet.

* U value is based upon a brick wall, uninsulated Rc=0,43 m²K/W, U-value =2,5 W/m²K.
